South Colchester Academy (SCA) Interact’s Coffee House and Art Show held Wed. April 10th was real success drawing a crowd of almost 100 students, teachers, parents and interested people.  Interactors did a great job of organizing:  lining up students and teachers to perform, designing and printing a program, arranging for sound, the building, time and place, advertising, soliciting sponsors (Third Place Transition House, Roop’s Esso, Brookfield Bakery and Hurricane Heidi’s Café and Tim Hortons).     In the photo are  four hard working Interact students Delaney McLellan, Bryn Rankin, Chris Ross, Livi King and Alex Zhou who organized the Coffee House with staff advisor Chris Ross.

Organizing is no small feat!  The stage was set with five microphones monitored by three students on the sound controls.  Livi King was our host for the evening, introducing each performance.    Individual performers were outstanding. Such beautiful voices.  Incredible guitar playing . Who would otherwise know the talent that is among students and teachers at SCA.

Shelby Ryan’s stage presence was superb, drawing the crowd in with her relaxed manner, helped she says by grounding herself singing in her bare feet!  Hannah Kennedy surprised us with her singing and playing, ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and a second song she learned after school after a special request. ‘Before Monday’, a group of four very talented musicians along with their teacher sang three popular songs much enjoyed by the crowd.  Students dancing in the upstairs hall behind the windows further brought the music to life.  Thanks to Mr Chris Ross for all the help along the way to make this event such a success.

Each Interact Club is encouraged to do two projects a year, one local and one international.  SCA Interactors chose to do the Coffee House and Art Show, proceeds for Transition House.  Their proceeds, close to $300.00, will be matched dollar for dollar by the Rotary Club of Truro.

‘Before Monday’, a group of four very talented musicians along with their teacher, was just one of the acts that entertained the crowd a the coffee house.
The Interact students organized and Art Show and Sale held concurrently with the Coffee House.
