The Start:  Chairperson for the day Jim Goit started the program by asking Ed MacDonald to lead the club in the signing of O'Canada and the Rotary Grace

Chair Introduction: Jim Goit. I have been a member of the club “officially” since September 2005, but my association goes back to 1994 when my wife, Barbara, became a Club member. I used to attend Club meetings and social events as her guest.

Garth Coffin sponsored me, and I have enjoyed all aspects of being a Rotarian.  I have served the District on several committees. In addition, I promote the Rotary Leadership Institute enthusiastically where I am a board member and group discussion leader.

Last weekend I was confirmed as the District Governor Nominee, which means I’ll be District Governor in 2015-16.  Barbara and I are looking forward to that adventure, but there is a lot of work and learning to do and we’ll need the help and support of all the members of the Rotary Club of Truro.

Something you might not know about me.... Secretly, I am a very shy person and have to work hard to overcome my natural inclination to sit quiet when I’m in social gatherings.  When I’m with Rotarians, I can be the social person I’d like to be at all times.

Attendance: 69%

Fun Fines: In celebration of the recent Moosehead win, the Club enjoyed a reprieve of any kind of penalty. All Club members of Scottish descent rejoiced inwardly.

Happy Mug: Ron, Jason, Brian, Richard, Ed, Lydia, Erica, Marilyn, and the Other Jim were happy Rotarians.

Visitors and Guests: Sharon Crowe and Barbara Goit were guests, but only until they were re-inducted as Club members later in the program.

50/50 Draw: Ken MacDonald had the winning ticket however he drew an ace and missed the $27 pot that builds for next week.

Maggie’s Place is a Family Resource Centre. It is a warm and welcoming place in the community where any family member can go, not only in times of need, but as a regular part of day-to-day life. They offer parent education classes, child development activities, parent-to-parent support groups, health information, referrals and many other programs, activities and services.

Cindy reviewed the history of Maggie’s Place and Linda provided and overview of the important services Maggie’s Place provides for our community. She highlighted the status of the expansion plans and the move to Prince Street. She also thanked the Rotary Club for their generous support to the Maggie’s Move Campaign by providing cash to get the renovation project started.
