90 years of anything is worth celebrating! The Rotary Club of Truro's 90th Annual Charter Night Celebration is fast approaching. Julia Phelps, Rotary International Director for Zone 24, will be on hand to help us celebrate and will be our speaker. Her presentation is entitled "90 Years of Giving Gifts to the World."

We are planning a 20’s theme with a few surprises! Cocktails are available from 6:00-7:00 pm. Invite family, friends and colleagues to celebrate with us. Come in period dress if you can!

The following awards will be presented.

  • Community Service Award- Stu Rath; highest recognition by our club of a non Rotarian. It is presented to a deserving citizen from the Colchester County area who has provided outstanding service through volunteer work or financial support to organizations/or individuals in our community.
  • Rotarian of the Year- Mark Mason; outstanding service to the club over the past year. 
  • Avenues of Service Award - Dave Mills; outstanding service to the club and Rotary over multiple years while serving in all five avenues of service. It involves participation and support of club, community, international, vocational and youth projects.
  • Paul Harris Fellowship Recognition. Presented in recognition of the donation of $1,000 US to the Rotary Foundation. (Multiples of that amount are signified by a + sign) Jim Goit (+2), Judy Nicholson (+1), Garth Coffin (+1)

Julia Phelps, who began her career in education in 1976, is the associate commissioner for the Center for Curriculum and Instruction for the state of Massachusetts. She served on the board of the Amesbury Educational Foundation, Inc. and the John Ashford Link House Inc.

A Rotarian since 1997, Phelps has served Rotary as Rotary Foundation alumni coordinator and district governor.

She is a Major Donor, Benefactor, multiple Paul Harris Fellow, and a member of the Bequest Society. Phelps is a recipient of The Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service.
