Jol lead the group through the history of how the Colchester Community Workshops got to where it is now. The Rotary Club of Truro has played and continues to play a major role with the Workshops, helping them in many ways including fundraising, as Board members, and with the golf tournament to name just a few items.
The demand for the services of the Workshops is increasing. The demand on the current facilities is increasing and the Workshops is missing opportunities for additional business as well. There is also need for new programs and services such as residences for some at-risk clients.
The need for improved facilities is the reason for the capital campaign. Jol showed a representation of the redeveloped Halidays facilities. He stated that the Workshops has
$2M raised of the required $5M cost. They were launching the capital campaign with an event on Oct 19th at the Rotary House facilities. Please come out and bring your friends and family. There will be tours throughout the day.
He described the campaign cabinet and the process that they were going through to raise the required funding as well as to develop awareness of the services and opportunities of the expanded Workshops. They hope to be starting on the redevelopment project next spring and have it finished in a year.
Jol was thanked by Rotarian Dave Mills.
