Major Blair have an excellent update of the activities of the county. The Municipality has a new brand strategy with a new logo and tagline that highlights the central location of our community. It speaks to our location as a great place to live and work with a lot of big city services without some of the big city costs and problems.
Christine also mentioned the new look of the countie's website and social media presence. She mentioned updates to the Debert Business park and highlighted its importance to the economy of the area. Colchester enjoys one of the lowest tax rates in the province and yet the municipality has been able to support community groups and organizations with over $700 in grants over the past year.
The County is also very active in battling climate change with the award winning Solar Colchester county program, improvements in efficiency with LED lighting and electrical motor controls on municipal infrastructure.
Christine is very hopeful for several cooperative projects with Cumberland county. One with major potential is a pending UNESCO designation for the Fundy Geopark that would extend along the Fundy shore and would enhance our area's tourist potential. She also updated the group on the developments at the Fundy Discovery Centre and the potential for a pedestrian bridge across the river to join the trail networks.
It is obvious that there are good things happening in Colchester County.
