Since her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer about 15 years ago, Joanne has tried to support and help with that cause as often as she could. However, over the last few years she noticed so many of my family and friends are affected by so many types of cancer, she thought it was time to step up her game, and she jumped in right away by helping recreate the Relay for Life event here in Truro.
Joanne explained that the Relay for Life in Truro has gone on for many years but in recent times has begun to diminish. She had accepted the role of chair with the objective to revilitize the event. It was being rebranded as the Rally for Life in Truro and rather than an over-night event, will now run from 5:00 - 9:30 on June 29th at the Truro TACC grounds. It will be very family friendly and there will be lots of fun and entertainment. Luminaries are available for sale at all 3 MacQuarries locations as well as by emailing ~ jemcphee@gmail.com.
Members were encouraged to support the event by coming out and also by spreading the word though our personal networks.
