Opening/Chair: Lydia Sorflaten chaired today's meeting. She asked President Alana to lead us in the singing O'Canada. Lydia than recited a beautiful poem.
Visitors/Guests: We didn't have any visiting Rotarians or guests today.
Speaker: There was no speaker today due to the semi-annual meeting being held.
Member Health:
Joanna informed us that Barbie had some health concerns recently and was in the hospital, but is back home now with VON care.
Ed shared that he ran into Al Hollis at the golf course and he is doing well.
Announcements and Reports:
Jim shared that the 5th annual Bollywood Night will be held on Sept 21st. He is planning a meeting for this week and will be sending out an invite to all past committee members.
Mark reminded the group that they will be headed to the Foodbank once again this Friday from 1-4 p.m. Rotarians are encouraged to attend, even if it's just for an hour.
Judy reminded everyone of the summer social taking place on Aug 19th at 4 p.m. at Richard and Marilyn's place on Shortts Lake. The 5th Annual Swim for Polio will also be taking place that morning at 9:30 a.m. This will be a great day!
President's Report:
Alana gave her final report as president. She shared that we received a lovely thank you card from the 1st Baptist Girls Choir for our donation. They are off to NFLD for a competition.
Alana reminded everyone that there would be no meeting on July 2 due to the Canada Day holiday. July 9th would be the next meeting which will be held at the Truro Golf Club. Arrive anytime around 5-5:30 P.M. The meal will be lasagna and the cost is $15.
Happy Mug:
Kirk is happy to be home after a being away for five weeks. He managed to get a few things done around the house this weekend.
Mayor Christine Blair was excited to share that her granddaughter is graduating from high school with honors and is headed to the University of Ottawa for nursing.
Jim was thrilled to share that his Son in Law made partner at Deloitte in Toronto.
50/50: Ken MacLean's number was drawn, but no joker this week. The pot builds!
