The Club Holiday Social (8:00 pm) will immediately follow the December Director's meeting (7:00 pm) on December 3rd. You are welcome to come to one or both. Bring along your favourite snack, finger food or hors d'oeuvre to share. Try to think of something that does not require the oven if possible. Beverages will be provided. Bring your partner or a friend (if you can) and help us launch the holiday season! Always a good time! |

Brunch starts at 10am sharp. This year we are changing it up slightly, Santa will not be giving out gifts to the children, but helping to decorate cookies after brunch, at approx 11am. Please RSVP. We require confirmation of numbers by Tuesday, December 3.

Bill Mills has been the Mayor of Truro for almost 20 years. He resides in Truro with his wife of 36 years, Phyllis. Together they have seven children and five grandchildren. Bill was employed in the broadcasting industry as a staff announcer for seven years at CKDH and later in sales and marketing for 23 years at the former Radio Atlantic CKCL/CKTO in Truro. He is currently employed in Commercial Print Sales with Colchester Print. He has served on almost every committee in the Town, including Chair of the Truro Police Board and Chair of the building committees for the new library, fire station, public works building and the renovated Town Hall. Bill was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Medal, nominated by his peers, in February 2013 from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities in honour of the contributions made to our community and to all of Canada. Bill currently sits on the Audit Committee, RECC Operating Board and Tourism Committee. |

Today, the Northern Connector Program a collaborate initiative of the Cumberland Business Connector, Truro/Colchester Partnership, and Pictou County REN, in partnership with the National Connector Program is a formal networking initiative funded through Labour and Advanced Education that he will share with you today. Through programs like this, Nova Scotia has seen a higher in-migration than out-migration and we’ve seen more young people stay than leave, that’s a positive sign. Matthew is an Acadia University graduate with experience in facilitation, promotion, program planning, and program implementation. At Acadia Matthew was heavily involved within his community, as a member of Acadia athletics, as well as a volunteer and has brought that love of community involvement to the community. As regional program manager, Matthew will be working closely with established business and community leaders to help employment-ready workers build professional networks across the region. |

Ed Wohlmuth - will speak about personal care in managing through crisis and trauma, a topic that will be relevant for anyone during these times.
Ed is a faculty member at NSCC whose professional life is as a counsellor and his area of expertise is in crisis response, trauma, and resilience training.

Doug will be tell the club about his Club's experience with the STRIVE program. STRIVE is a scholarship program that recognizes and rewards students in general, practical or academic courses who show significant improvement in overall performance in their senior year of high school. STRIVE challenges these students to improve their school achievements, gain self secondary education goals. The STRIVE Program is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hillsborough. Over the past 20 years $184,500 has been awarded to deserving students who are traditionally missed by the post secondary financial support programs. |

Lily is a fashion historian with experience in the museum industry, collections management, and administrative arts. She is a research professional with a BA in Art History from Mt Allison University and an MA in Dress & Textile History from the University of Glasgow. Lily will tell us about her work at the Historial Society. |
