Jan 8, 2018 Bulletin
Opening/Chair: Ken Maclean was chair for the day. He asked President Alana to lead the group in the singing of O Canada. This was followed by a moment of personal reflection. Ken asked that we remember two friends of Rotary that passed in December. Frances Sproule and Audrey McCabe.
Frances had donated the Canada 150 quilt.
Visitors/Guests: Jim Harman and Kyle Andrews were welcome guests.
Member Health: It was reported that Lloyd Coady was suffer from a cold that was keeping him away from the meeting. It was also reported that Garth Coffin was back driving. He had missed the notices and showed up to the hotel at lunch time.
Happy Mug: There were several happy Rotarians this evening including:
- Kevin who had survived Christmas on NL including over 3000Km of driving and being on the first boat in 5 days to make the crossing. He is going on a CUSO assignment to the Philippines in March.
- Jim Gould who had had all his grandchildren home for christmas. They all got sick. He and Gloria had just had notice that they would be going on the Friendship Exchange to Estonia and Finland.
- Ed MacDonald is happy he would soon been heading south.
- Joanna who had gotten thru the storm with minimal power outage and was thinking about her father who was having his birthday in Australia.
- Ken Maclean who was looking forward to his upcoming Jamaican vacation.
50/50: Sarah Boss had the lucky ticket but could not come up with the joker so missed the $17 pot.
Announcements and Reports: Lech reminded everyone that the Directors meeting would be Tuesday evening (Jan 9th) at the NSCC (room 224). 7:00 pm. All Welcome.
Lech also reported that the Yearbook was at the warehouse and would be distributed the week of the 17th. Copies would be available to give out to advertisers next week.
Program: This was a club meeting and as there was no speaker, President Alana introduced a table "game" that would help members get to know each other better. Each member got a question (ie What was the last book you read? or What was your most embarrassing moment?) and shared their answers with other Rotarians at their table. Fun and revealing.
Closing: The chair thanked everyone for coming ane closed the meeting at 6:10 pm
