Opening/Chair: Sharon opened the meeting by asking President Alana to lead us in the singing of O Canada which was followed by the moment of personal reflection.
Visitors/Guests: There were no guests or visiting Rotarians today.
Member Health: No report.

Judy for lots of family visits
Wayne for a great week in the kayak.
Joanna for having sold her house and moving into the cottage. And something about a new convertible perhaps.
Alana for the start of vacation
50/50: Lech had the lucky ticket but missed the joker.. so the pot continues to build. IT should be over $100 next time.
Announcements and Reports:
Judy reminded members about the Summer Social at Shortt's Lake on Aug 13th. Please register and attend. Details are on the website.
She also reminded the group about the swim for polio on the same day starting at 10:00. Details are on the website.
Don't forget the Rotary After Hours this Thursday July 27th. It will be held at the Glengarry. If the weather is nice the plan is to be by the pool. There can be swimming and washer toss in addition to the usual socializing.
President's Report:
President Alana highlighted a number items from the July 4th Director's meeting.
The Club was still talking to the Boys and Girls Club about their requests and they will be speaking to the club in September.
The 2017-18 Presidential Citation goals were reviewed. The Club already does most of the requirements and would continue to watch and work toward it.
Executive will meet over the summer to flush out the strategic plan for roll-out at a September meeting.
It was reported that there was still work to do on the Yearbook with many clients to visits. Lech and the team are on it.
For the Community committee it was reported that:
$300 had been approved to support NSPE tickets for Youth
That $1426 had been approved for an IPAD communicator for a person with disabilities.
an amount had been approved for wheelchair maintenance.
The Ad Hoc committee on Lunches made a report and recommendations. Issues considered included:
The cost of the meals
The low percentage of members attending the lunch meetings.
The annual deficit that the club incurred as a result of not meeting the weekly minimum set for the Glengarry.
The venue for the meeting as alternative to control costs.
As a result;
The Glengarry has offered to reduce the daily minimum for the meetings from 35 to 25 to reduce the deficit. (Thank you Judy)
It is recommended that the club resume weekly meetings all year long including the summer. The board would consider this for next year
That Corporate sponsorship be more aggressively sought for events such as Charter night, the Christmas breakfast and other events to keep costs under control.
That a policy be developed to implement a set admin fee or levee from the Community account that can to be transferred to the Club account. It was agreed this would be pursued.
The committee of Adam and Wayne were thanked for their work on this task.
The Membership Committee was considering a community awareness/outreach event in October.
Also reminded that the next regular meeting of the club was August 14th.
Tom Savary made a brief presentation on his thoughts about vocational service and ideas for future programs in this area. There was consideration of vocational visits to local work places and a program to help youth by mentoring in vocational areas.
