Visitors/Guests: Adrian Nauss was a welcomed visitor once again.
Member Health: There were no reports of any member health issues.
Happy Mug: Ted was the only "happy" Rotarian today.. just for being upright. Everyone else was worn out from the holiday season.
President's Report: This being a club meeting, President Ted gave an extended report on the last Director's meeting. A copy of the full board meeting minutes is in the club Dropbox at https://goo.gl/CjI0R4. Highlights include:
The discussion on a Ribfest event for Truro is still ongoing. No decision as of yet.
The Strategic planning exercise will get underway on Saturday Jan 14th at the Glengarry starting at 9 am. Lunch will be provided. Come out and help set the future for the club. Please let Alana know if you are planning on going.
The discussion on a change of day of the week that the club would meet was still ongoing. Some had indicated that Monday was not the best day for them. Others said it was the only day. It's certain that one day can't work for everyone every week,
The Board had approved several donations including:
$1,000 in support of Charlies ride
Support the water for life project if the CEC Interact club raised matching money
continue to support Plan Canada
There were plans to support the Coldest Night of the Year walk again this year.
There were discussion on reactivating the Thursday Rotary After Hours evenings again.
Corporate Memberships were being discussed.
Ted reminded members of the next Director's meeting that was being held Jan 10th at the home of Kevin Quinlan.
Committee Reports:
Judy asked people would be interested in a Sleigh Ride social event. There were many who were so she would be looking into options.
Ted reported that the club would have to find alternative meeting times for April 24th, May 29, Sept 25th and Nov 27th because of booking conflicts at the Glengarry.
Kevin reported that the plans for Charter night on Feb 16th were progressing. Save the date. He was very close to having secured a speaker and was working on the program. Details would be forthcoming soon.
Mark thanked everyone for all the leadership and help with the Christmas Index. By all accounts, everything went very smoothly. He would have more to report when he had all the details finalized.
Larry reported on the yearbook.
It had been printed and the 22,000 copies were being distributed throughout the Truro and Colchester area on Jan 12th.
500 copies would be available for members to distribute directly to the 180 businesses who had purchased space in the yearbook as well as to potential clients.
He reported on the new processes for followup and for future yearbooks.
Ted thanked all those who had made the yearbook a success.
50/50: Barbie Reynolds had the lucky ticket but could not come up with the joker so the pit builds.
