Most of us will never be able to claim 68 years of continuous service to any organization but the Rotary Club of Truro's Lorne MacDougall can do just that.

Surrounded by family and friends, Lorne received special recognition for his long service to Rotary from Rotary International President Sakuji Tanaka at the Club's 87th annual Charter Night Ceremony held on the evening of February 21st.  The framed letter from President Tanaka was signed by 14 past RI presidents and was presented to Lorne by Rotary International Director Bryn Styles.

Still a faithful and regular attendee of the the Club's weekly Monday meetings, Lorne just celebrated his 95th birthday in January.  He joined the club as a young lawyer on April 2, 1945 and was president of the Club in 1950-51. That was the year that RI President Arthur Lagueux visited Truro, the first of only two occasions that an RI president has been to Truro. (The second time was John Kenny in 2010)

A Paul Harris Fellow since 1987, Lorne was awarded the Avenues of Service Citation in 2008-09.

Lorne is an inspiration to all of us.  Congratulations Lorne.
