Rebecca O'Connell, SouthColchesterHigh School and Matthew McLaughlin CEC  were chosen the winners of the Rotary Club of Truro  RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)  Bursaries valued at $500 each, payable upon acceptance at an institution of higher learning.

Congratulations to Rebecca O'Connell, SouthColchesterHigh School and Matthew McLaughlin Cobequid Education Center, this year's  winners of the Rotary Club of Truro Rotary Youth Leadership Bursaries.

Rebecca O'Connell:  Along with  4-H, Canada Wide Science Fair, Leadership Camp, Coaching/Refereeing, working, farm responsibilities, social action project (Brazil), school mentoring program and the  French program, Rebecca manages to hold Honors with Distinction
Matthew McLaughlin:  In his home community of Economy, Matthew volunteers with the Fire Brigade.  At CEC, through a Creative Action Service program he commits 150 hours in community service.  He is part of the International Baccalaureate program and is a candidate for the 2009 Governor General's award.  He is part of the Robotics Club, Chess Club, Cougar CafĂ© and Red Cross.
