The Avenues of Service Citation is the most prestigious award presented at the Rotary Club level.  It is presented to a Rotarian, through Rotary International, for distinguished service in all avenues of rotary service, Club Service, International Service, Vocational Service, Community Service and New Generations Service.
Lloyd Coady was born in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, the youngest of 8 children he attended school in Sheet Harbour.  Enlisting in the Army in 1942, Lloyd served in the Medical Corps until 1946.  He had many trips across the Atlantic in the Queen Mary to bring troops home from England. 

Lloyd enrolled in Forestry School at UNB graduating in 1948, majoring in Entomology and Pathology with respect to insects. He was employed with the Federal Department of Forestry from 1948 until retirement in 1987, practically living in the woods and doing a job he very much enjoyed.

Lloyd enjoys woodworking and operating his ham radio.

Lloyd joined the Rotary Club of Truro in 1987 and has been a key member of our hospital equipment committee and continues to do this service through the Legion.

Lloyd was married for 57 years to the love of his life, Kay, who passed away in 2009.  He has one son Paul who lives in Annapolis Royal, NS.

Our club is honoured and privileged to recognize 24 years of Rotary service by presenting the Avenues of Service Citation to Lloyd Coady.
