The Rotary Club of Truro fielded two teams for the 8th Annual Colchester Community Workshop Foundation's Rotary House Challenge on Friday, August 28th, held this year at Truro Golf Club.

There were some healthy inter-team challenges, fueled by false bravado and Alexander Keith's best, and when the scorecards were compared, Brian Matthew'sTeam A, consisting of he and Mike Topley, Jody Mattie, Garth Coffin & Arnold Hagen conceded defeat to Ed MacDonald'sTeam B with he and Dave Mills, Rod Jones, Richard Bowness and his son-in-law, Nate Bodge.

We are very pleased to report our Team B retains the "Top Fundraisers" Trophy to our club for the second straight year, in addition to having placed 2nd in 2007. We are most appreciative of the $300 contribution from our club, and the many pledges from individual Rotarians.

Rotary Team A, Matthews, Hagen, Mattie, Coffin & Topley raised $1,480 and shot 70, while Team B MacDonald, Mills, Jone, Bowness & Bodge raised $2,750 (including $300 from the club) and shot 64. The whole tournament raised $34,000 and counting.

This was such a fun and worthwhile event, we anticipate having at least two teams again next year, and with the added ease of online donations, we should be able to raise even more money!

The Annual Rotary House Challenge, is the only annual fundraiser for the CCWF's Foundation, therefore the financial success of this event is critical for the continued operation of this valuable service to the clients of Colchester Community Workshop at our namesake Rotary House.
