Chris MacDougall, Cycling Across Canada to Support Cancer Research

Charlie’s Ride came to an end on September 28th. Appropriately, it was at the Terry Fox, Mile 0 Monument in St John's NL.

Truro businessman Chris MacDougall finished his cross-country cycling odyssey but the fundraising effort it generated is geared to live on into perpetuity through the Charlie and Dan MacDougall Endowment Fund for Cancer Research (through the Beatrice Hunter Research Foundation).

The ride, which began July 24, in Vancouver, B.C., was in memory of MacDougall’s son Charlie, who died in 2004 at age 14 of the same type of cancer that afflicted Terry Fox.With the exception of a few rest days, averaged approximately 130 kms per day for two months.

Hear what motivated Chris to do this ride and what it took to accomplish it during his presentation to the Rotary Club of Truro on Nov 21st.
