Ed McQuillan, Chairman NS Chapter of the Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing

As a result of a casual conversation in the Ski Instructors Locker Room at Ski Wentworth in the winter of 2014 and the observation that there was a need for improved adaptive ski equipment for disabled skiers, a District Grant application was submitted and approved in 2015-16. The result was a partnership with Alpine Nova Scotia, The Rotary Club of Truro and Rotary District 7820 to purchase the first new Sit Ski for Wentworth in some time.  It arrived in March 2016 just as the season was ending.  Now that there has been a full year of use, Ed McQuillan, Chairman NS Chapter of the Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing and Ski instructor Hiro Ozawa will come to tell the club about the impact this sort of equipment has in the lives of disabled skiers.

Injured in a ski accident that left him in a wheelchair, Ed has a unique prospective on sport for the disabled.

A professional ski and snowboard instructor at Wentwork since 2000, Hiro is a CADS (Canadian adaptive snow sports) ski level 3 course conductor, snowboard level 3 course conductor and someone who teached instructors in the use of such equipment.
