Calling all swimmers...... We are organizing a forth "Swim for Polio" at Shortt's Lake on Sunday, August 13th at 10 am. It is hard to believe, but in the three years that we have been doing the Swim for Polio, we have contributed over $15,000 to the cause. Specifically, in 2016, we raised $1400. When matched 2-1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation this becomes $4200! 2015 we raised $3000. When matched with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation this amounted to $9000! 2014 we raised $825 became $2475. All this equals $15,675. This year, swimmers can join the group on Sunday, August 13th at 10 am or they can do their swim. On Aug 13th, Richard Bowness will take swimmers across the lake and accompany them back. (Meet at Bowness' a little before 10am). You can be on the boat as a spotter if you are not swimming. It is important to collect addresses from donors if they request a receipt for donations of $20 or more. Download your own Pledge sheet. Donations go to: (please indicate Polio Swim) Rotary Club of Truro PO Box 115, Truro, NS B2N 5B6 (Les Mosher is our treasurer) On-line donations can be made through https://www.
Donations can also be made directly to the Rotary Foundation to the Polio Plus program. Just let Les or one of the swimmers know the amount so it cam be counted in the total for the event.
Organizing team Laurie, Lydia, Richard plus the cheering team! |
