Opening/Chair: President Ted was chair for the day and lead the group in the singing of O Canada and in the moment of personal reflection.
President Ted thanked Robin, our server, for the meals and acknowledged her efforts in making our meeting run so smoothly.
Visitors/Guests: Adrian Nauss was a welcome guest again today.
Member Health: There was no report on member health.
Happy Mug: There were a number of happy Happy Rotarians:
- Ed MacDonald for his Rotary Family.
- Tom Savary for great visit by daughter
- Brian Matthews who is looking forward to travelling to visit family
- Matt Redmond who had a very happy 1 year old who got to see HO HO on Saturday
- Kevin Quinlan who is travelling back to NL for Christmas
- Jim Goit for a great start to the ski season.
50/50: Brian Matthews had the winning ticket however he came up with an Ace and not the joker so went home empty handed.
Announcements and Committee Reports:
- Lydia reported that were is on-going civil unrest in Cameroon. Our school program is going ahead as planned but it is currently judged unsafe to travel to the area.
Secretary's Report: Secretary Ryan reported on the birthdays and anniversaries of members and families. A complete list is always included with each bulletin.
President's Report:
- President Ted reflected on what a great month the club has had this December. He thanked Barbara and Jim for hosting the Directors meeting and Christmas Party as well as those who had helped organize it. He thanked Judy and the Glengarry as well as those who had worked hard to have a great Christmas Brunch. He also thanked all those who had made (and were making) the Christmas Index such a success.
- The next regular meeting of the club with be January 9th. The Director's meeting will be the next evening at the home of Kevin Quinlan. Don't forget the Strategic planning session on January 14th at 9:00 am at the Glengarry. Notices for all events are on the website.
- The club voted to make a donation of $1,000 to the Charlie's Ride fund.
- There will be two new members inducted early in January.
- There are a number of Membership initiatives that have been proposed that will be looked at in the new year. They include the possibility of moving the club meeting to another day of the week, restarting the new member mentorship program and the evening social meeting.
At the end of his report Ted read notice of the Toast the club had received from the Rotary Club of Brisbane Airport and we recorded a return toast for them.
Speaker: No speaker for the day other than the AGM.
