50/50 Draw: Jim Goit produced the lucky ticket, but the Joker was busy packing up ski gear for a trip to Wentworth.
 
Club Notices:
  • Sit ski will arrive this week and there will be a small ceremony on Saturday morning at Wentworth
  • Entertainment committee: Joanna is seeking washer toss boxes for the hubtown hoedown. Also, the committee is looking for people who are involved with line dancing to organize a session. Please contact Joanna
  • Yearbook Committee
    • Mark your calendars! May 25th will be yearbook launch day and we would like to ask Rotarians to come together in the morning for a brunch before heading out in teams to reach out to local businesses to participate in the  yearbook. Dave Mills will email out full details and the agenda for the day.
    • This years' Yearbook launch will also have radio, print and social media ads to support the campaign.
    • Yearbook committee will be meeting next Monday at 4:30 at NSCC
  • Club President Kevin shared that directors have approved recommendations of the Bethel Trust committee.  This exciting news will see significant funds put into the to the community in the near future. Kevin also took an opportunity to thank the committee and other club members for their hard work and diligence on this important matter.

Topic: Rotary Sponsored International Projects
 
Thom who who is the spouse of Rotarian Dr. Catherine Graham gave an exciting and informative presentation on the some of the international projects that he has been a part of in recent years in South Africa and Peru. Thom shared some of the challenges and successes of his teams as they worked to improve local conditions. His projects were based on UN millennium goals placed emphasis on food, water, sanitation, economic growth and opportunities for women and children. 
 
Brian Matthews thanked Thom for his informative and inspirational presentation.

New Member Inducted
Exciting news! During this week's regular meeting The Rotary Club of Truro welcomed Ken Banks to the club. 
 
Pastor Ken of Connection Church Truro was sponsored by Rotarian Todd Barnhill and has been at Truro Wesleyan since July of 2006. In addition to working with the Compassionate Ministry in Truro, Ken is also involved with humanitarian work in Nicaragua and serves on the ethics board at the Colchester  East Hants Health Centre.
