Apr 25 Bulletin
Lydia Sorflaten was chair for the day and opened with O'Canada and the Rotary moment of reflection.

As we were not at our regular meeting place, there was no Fun Fine or 50/50.  Wayne, Ryan and Jim were all Happy Rotarians for Kayaking, Golf and Bicycling (in that order).

President Kevin reported on several things:

  1. Rotary Highway Cleanup. Rotarian Mike Topley sent an e-mail inviting us to be part of Saturday, May 28th, highway cleanup at our regular overpass at the end of Robie Street.  Members were invited to have a look for Mike's email and details.
  2. Meg MacDougall, our club program chair, is moving to a legal position in Halifax, so we need someone to step up and replace Meg.  Kevin thanked Meg in absentia for her wonderful club service and wished her well going forward.
  3. Sharon Q and Jim Gould are finalizing the Home Hosting list for District Conference.  A database of names and e-mail contacts for each Rotarian hosting guests will be forthcoming once finalized.
  4. We have ordered $15,000 of Superstore gift cards for the Food Bank, as well as $5000 for the Hospice Society.
  5. We have had 2 groups of NSCC Truro Campus students working behind the scenes this year to develop/refine websites:  Yearbook and Christmas Index.   The intention is to have the students present their work to the club.
  6. Kevin noted we are just 3 weeks away from the District Conference, and he invited members to register if they have yet to do so!
Jim reported on the Conference and encourage all to register as soon as possible..

There were several welcomed guests representing the Arthritis Society - Nova Scotia including Jone Mitchell, Director of Development for the Maritimes, campers Jenna and Mackenzie and their mothers.

Jone made a presentation on the the Join Together camp and how important it is for those young people with Arthritis. Jenna and Mackenzie confirmed that saying how much they enjoyed their time a camp.  It was one place the felt they really belonged.

The club presented them with a cheque for $10,000 from the Bethel Trust that would allow for 10 children to attend camp.  They all thanked the club for its generosity.
